Business Federation "Women for Tomorrow" Hosts Women's Economic Forum
Around 300 participants came together at the Women's Economic Forum, hosted by the Business Federation "Women for Tomorrow" in partnership with Gazelle Finance and Visa. The event, titled "Women in Business," addressed key issues such as the challenge of access to finance for women entrepreneurs in Georgia, as well as the opportunities available to them through international, public, and private sectors.
Currently, in Georgia, nearly one million able-bodied women (aged 15 and older) are not engaged in the economy. Meanwhile, those women who are interested in business face significant challenges, with access to finance being one of the most prominent.
These issues were highlighted during panel sessions moderated by Nina Kobakhidze, Chairwoman of the "Women for Tomorrow" Supervisory Board, and Ketevan Kvartskhava, a board member. Participants included representatives from international organizations, private financial institutions, and government agencies. The panelists—representing the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), USAID, and the EBRD—discussed the steps their organizations are taking to improve access to finance and advisory services in Georgia. Meanwhile, private financial institutions outlined various financing channels and projects, and the representatives from the government agencies - Enterprise Georgia, Rural Development Agency and GITA - focused on grant and co-financing initiatives implemented with state and donor support.
The event also welcomed women entrepreneurs from Tbilisi and various regions of Georgia, who had the opportunity to ask questions and share information about the challenges faced in their respective regions.
The forum continued with the "Women Talks: Failure = Opportunity", where successful women shared their personal stories of turning failure into a learning experience. The event concluded with a coaching session titled "Public Speaking Techniques."
